Artists Statement

My work explores notions of reality and human understanding of existence as a tangible thing- whether it be analysis of personal memory, including the recording process of the mind, scientific text research, or social documentation of ritual practices and folklore connected to spirituality. Continuous attempts by humans to reconcile their scale and positioning in their situation is a recurring issue in the themes I explore. My practice is multidisciplinary involving drawing, painting, photography, video and installation. Each project utilises a range of media revolving around a specific theme and meaning, with process playing an important part in exposing core strands of the subject. I like to create works based on my proximity to my environment and residencies in disparate cultures have become an evolutionary element in my work practice.
